The incident occurred on Thursday, January 14, in Pasternik, in the Gromadka municipality, on the border of Bolesławiec and Polkowice counties. Two vehicles collided on a bend in the road: a Ford passenger car driven by a 29-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County and an Iveco bus carrying a 74-year-old driver from Bolesławiec and seven passengers.
Several people were injured, and one—the bus passenger—was taken to hospital. The following took part in the operation: firefighters from Bolesławiec, Wierzbowa, Gromadka and Chocianów, as well as police officers and two emergency medical teams.

According to police findings, the 29-year-old Ford driver failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions, lost control of the vehicle and hit a bus that was travelling correctly. One of the Iveco passengers suffered serious injuries. The incident was classified as an accident.
Both drivers were sober.
