At its meeting on 12 January 2021, the Zgorzelec County Board dismissed Zofia Barczyk from her position as director of the Multidisciplinary Hospital – Independent Public Healthcare Facility in Zgorzelec.
Between 30 and 31 December 2020, irregularities related to COVID-19 vaccinations occurred at the Multidisciplinary Hospital – Independent Public Healthcare Facility in Zgorzelec, headed by Director Zofia Barczyk. People outside group “0” were vaccinated despite the list of people from that group willing to be vaccinated not having been exhausted.
Administering the vaccine out of order was inconsistent with the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.
Such conduct, during the ongoing pandemic caused by the SARS- COV- 2 virus, should be assessed as reprehensible and undermining the principles of equal access to vaccinations within the individual eligibility groups.
This led the Zgorzelec County Board to conclude that it was necessary to dismiss Zofia Barczyk, director of the Multidisciplinary Hospital – Independent Public Healthcare Facility in Zgorzelec.
As Kamila Kowalska, a spokesperson for the county office, explained, the director’s dismissal was connected with irregularities in COVID-19 vaccinations. People outside the so-called group 0 were vaccinated at the Zgorzelec facility. Among those vaccinated was Rafał Gronicz, the mayor of Zgorzelec.
In a statement given to Gazeta Wyborcza, the mayor of Zgorzelec said, among other things, that he had accepted the director’s offer and been vaccinated. Zofia Barczyk, meanwhile, told Tvn24.pl, among other things, that no mistake had been made during the vaccinations and that everything had taken place in accordance with NFZ recommendations.
