The incident took place on December 19, at around 6 p.m., in Jelenia Góra. Officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters were notified that a man was abusing a cat.
“At the scene, officers found witnesses to the incident, who reported that the man who killed the cat had first struck it against the asphalt and road signs, and then thrown the dead animal into a pond. They described the person suspected of committing the act,” reports junior inspector Wojciech Jabłoński of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
He adds:
Police began searching for the perpetrator. They detained a man several streets away. He turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra.
The 35-year-old was detained and taken to police custody. The man will be held responsible for killing an animal with particular cruelty. This offense carries a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison.
