The incident occurred on the morning of December 15. The duty officer at the police station in Lwówek Śląski received a report that a man was sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle with its engine running in Krobica (Mirsk municipality).

As it turned out, the driver, a 33-year-old resident of Świeradów-Zdrój, first lost control of the vehicle in Rębiszów, ran off the road and hit a tree. That did not stop him from continuing to drive.

After driving several kilometres, the man stopped in the middle of the road in Krobica and… fell asleep.

Surprisingly, the 33-year-old was under the influence of amphetamine and methamphetamine. The man is also banned from driving, and his driving licence had been revoked by the county governor.

What is more, the vehicle was not authorised for road use and did not have valid insurance. Furthermore, officers found more than 40 doses of methamphetamine in the car.

The 33-year-old could now face up to five years in prison.
