The crime took place on the night of December 5–6 in the Warta Bolesławiecka municipality. The suspect turned out to be a 20-year-old resident of Legnica County. The man was arrested by police officers from Kruszyn.

During a search of the residential and utility premises used by the perpetrator, police secured some of the power tools originating from the burglary of a basement.
The 20-year-old confessed to the crime. He explained that he had already managed to sell the remaining part of the loot. The man could now face a sentence ranging from one to as many as ten years in prison.
