This year’s ceremony, due to the prevailing epidemic situation in the country, was very modest and brought together only distinguished soldiers from the artillery community of the “Black Division”.

The significance of the symbolic ceremony held on Artillerymen’s Day was emphasized in his speech by the commander of the 11th “Lubuska” Armoured Cavalry Division, Brigadier General Piotr Trytek:

Today I am here with you at a special time for you. This year was filled with many demanding undertakings and challenges, which you took on with commitment and successfully met. You developed your skills on tactical training grounds, at training areas, and during exercises and drills. You cooperated with soldiers from allied forces and achieved successes both as teams and individually. You are growing stronger! And I congratulate you on that—as your superior.

After the commemorative orders had been read, General Trytek, Colonel Matysek and the commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen, Colonel Wasielewski, presented distinguished artillerymen from units of the 11th Armoured Cavalry Division with commendations featuring a photograph against the backdrop of the standard, letters of congratulations and material awards.

At the end, the winners of this year’s competition for the title of “23rd Artillery Regiment Master of Fire in 2020” were honored. Captain Łukasz Lenart became the champion, while Second Lieutenant Łukasz Więckiewicz became runner-up.

Commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Colonel Marek Wasielewski:

Rocket Forces and Artillery Day, observed on Saint Barbara’s Day, expresses recognition for the centuries-old tradition, history and achievements of our special branch of the armed forces […].

Firepower, speed and precision of engagement testify to the ongoing modernization of the Rocket Forces and Artillery and to the role played by our branch of the armed forces on the modern battlefield.

At the conclusion, the commander thanked the soldiers and employees of the national defense ministry for their commitment and the effort they put into their daily service.

Soldiers:

As part of the parallel celebrations of Rocket Forces and Artillery Day, Holy Mass was celebrated at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army for the intention of all artillerymen.
