Officers from the Criminal Division of the Bolesławiec police station caught two people red-handed while they were committing a crime. The 28-year-old man and 29-year-old woman came to Bolesławiec with a specific purpose: to steal catalytic converters. Their roles were clearly divided—the woman kept watch while her partner allegedly used tools to cut out exhaust systems from selected cars. There was no catalytic converter in the first vehicle, and while the suspects were stealing property from the second car, they were arrested by police officers. At the crime scene, officers secured the cut-out components from the victim’s car and the tools used by the 28-year-old.
During the officers’ investigation, it was established that the arrested man had previously travelled to Bolesławiec County many times in order to steal catalytic converters.
The female suspect was charged with two offenses, while the resident of Legnica County was charged with 13 offenses involving catalytic converter theft and attempted burglary of a vehicle.
The female suspect faces up to five years in prison, while her partner could face up to 10 years’ imprisonment.
