A joint meeting of the standing committees of the Bolesławiec City Council is under way. At the time of publication, the issue of waste is on the agenda. Mayor Piotr Roman informed councillors that this year the Municipality of Bolesławiec will subsidize waste collection to the tune of PLN 3.5 million and simply cannot pay any more. The result? Bolesławiec residents are facing fee increases.
He added that municipal services would track down waste fraudsters. “All services will be mobilized,” he stressed.
As P. Roman pointed out, municipal officials do not know exactly how many people live in Bolesławiec. It is estimated that across the country as many as 10 million people avoid paying for waste collection by cheating the system.
