The vast majority were unsuccessful attempts, because during the phone calls the potential victims realized that scammers had called them.

Unfortunately, in 5 cases the criminals achieved their goal. The seniors lost 20, 30, and even 40 thousand zlotys. (The criminals impersonated bank and postal employees as well as police officers.)

4 rules for senior safety:

  • never hand your money to a stranger; do not leave money in a place indicated by the caller
  • never call numbers provided by the caller
  • call your relatives and ask whether they actually need help
  • immediately inform the police about an attempted fraud.
