How do scammers operate?
They contact lonely people. Using photos from the internet, they make their background and occupation seem credible. Through regular contact via messaging apps or social media platforms, they tell stories about their lives, gain the victim’s trust, and then... ask for financial help.
And when the victim’s financial resources run out, the supposed love ends too. Let’s not be deceived by romance scammers!
A similar story occurred in Złotoryja County. Officers say:
We appeal to residents to exercise particular caution when communicating with people met online. We can never be sure who is writing to us or who is on the other side of the screen. Therefore, let us remain alert and prudent, especially when someone asks us for money in the form of a bank transfer or a BLIK code.
They add:
All attempts to extort money should be reported to the Police immediately by calling the emergency number 112.
