The importance of Tuesday’s ceremony was underscored by the participation of the commander of the 11th Lubusz Armored Cavalry Division, Maj. Gen. Dariusz Parylak,Dariusza Parylaka, commanders of the “Black Division” units, a representative of the Armament and Radio Electronics Directorate, the General Command of the Armed Forces Branches, as well as administrative authorities of the county and city.
After the decision of the Minister of National Defence appointing him commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen was read out, newly promoted Colonel Marek Wasielewski received the appointment document from Maj. Gen. Dariusz Parylak, as well as a black shoulder board bearing his new rank.
Maj. Gen. Dariusz Parylak:
I am tremendously pleased that such an important day in the history of our country—September 1—will be remembered in a special way by the 23rd Artillery Regiment and its new commander, Colonel Marek Wasielewski. Becoming a unit commander requires thorough preparation and considerable time to develop one’s own command style. I believe that Colonel Wasielewski has used this time well, and today I sincerely congratulate him.
The commander of the “Black Division” emphasized the regiment’s preparations to carry out the tasks of the KRAB divisional fire module:
Looking today at the parade ground and the soldiers standing on it, I would like to point out the empty space on the left wing. This space is intended for the KRAB divisional fire module.
The new commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen, Col. Marek Wasielewski, spoke about readiness to take on the new challenges and tasks assigned to the regiment:
Being entrusted with command of the 23rd Artillery Regiment is an expression of the trust placed in me by my superiors, constituting both an honor and a source of personal satisfaction. I realize that a period of intensive service and work lies ahead for me and my subordinates, but—guided by the wisdom of previous commanders and subordinates, as well as my own experience—I wish to carry out the tasks facing the regiment on time and in accordance with the orders and directives of my superiors. I assure you that I will make every effort to meet expectations and accomplish all the tasks assigned to the 23rd Artillery Regiment.
The ceremony concluded with a parade by the subunits and the taking of a commemorative photograph.
