At the ceremony – at the invitation of the regiment commander, acting Lieutenant Colonel Marek Wasielewski – attended by the head of training of the 11th Armoured Cavalry Division, Colonel Tomasz Kowalczykiewicz, representatives of the Bolesławiec city and county authorities, and commanders of garrison institutions. Due to epidemiological restrictions, the ceremony was held at the municipal stadium in the presence of the trainees’ closest relatives.

Lt. Col. M. Wasielewski:

Remember that the oath is not only a solemn ceremony, nor merely words spoken aloud. Above all, the oath is an act of pledging allegiance, an expression of your patriotism and your greatest commitment to the goals and tasks entrusted to soldiers by the Polish Nation. Proudly wearing a uniform bearing the white-and-red flag, soldiers undertake to honourably represent the values and ideals for which successive generations of Poles fought. Today you have joined our military community, which bears responsibility for Poland and its security.

The culmination of the ceremony was the military oath sworn by nearly 200 trainees who had completed the basic training module at the Bolesławiec Training Centre for Academic Legion Students. The following were honoured by taking the oath on the unit’s colours:

  • Trainee Private Damian Dudek
  • Trainee Private Joanna Pilas
  • Trainee Private Krystian Gralewski
  • Trainee Private Karina Kobylarczyk.

The regiment chaplain, Second Lieutenant Priest Maciej Gizicki, then gave the soldiers his blessing.

After speeches by the invited guests, who congratulated the newly sworn-in soldiers, Trainee Private Karolina Jarosz spoke on behalf of her colleagues.

Today we completed three weeks of basic training, culminating in one of the most important promises to the Motherland – the military oath. After a short but exceptionally interesting and intensive period of training and hours of exercises, the eagerly awaited day arrived on which we became soldiers.

For achieving the best results in training and discipline during the basic training, the regiment commander honoured the following with letters of commendation:

  • Trainee Private Magdalena Szufla
  • Trainee Private Mateusz Jankiewicz
  • Trainee Private Natalia Kok
  • Trainee Private Krystian Gralewski.

The soldiers’ closest relatives attended the presentation of the letters of commendation and received flowers from the regiment commander. The ceremony concluded with a parade of subunits accompanied by the Representative Band of the Air Force from Poznań, after which the soldiers received their first passes.
