Over the past week, the Lubań prosecutor’s office submitted four motions to the court for the pre-trial detention of suspects in offences against property, as well as against life and health.

The first case concerned robbery committed by a 39-year-old man. The incident took place on 3 August at a shop in Lubań. Rafał R., after stealing PLN 860 from the cash register, attacked a shop employee who intervened. Investigators:

As a result of the incident, the woman suffered injuries causing impairment of the functioning of her bodily organs for less than seven days.

After being apprehended, the perpetrator was charged, and the prosecutor submitted a motion to the court for R. to be placed in pre-trial detention. The suspect was detained for two months.

On 17 August, the District Court in Lubań also granted the prosecutor’s motion to place 28-year-old Adam U. in pre-trial detention. The District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra:

The man is suspected of committing, while a repeat offender, at least three thefts, six burglaries and a robbery.

Initially, measures including police supervision and a ban on leaving the country were applied to Adam U. However, these measures proved insufficient and, in connection with a robbery committed by him at the Kaufland store in Lubań, the prosecutor decided to apply for his detention. Adam U. will spend the next three months in custody.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Damian L., who is suspected of physically and psychologically abusing his cohabiting partner, will spend two months in custody. He is also suspected of forcing his way into the flat she occupied after their separation, having destroyed the door, and threatening to kill her. The prosecutor’s office stated: “The man then verbally and physically attacked the police officers who intervened.”

He faces between three months and five years in prison.

The final case concerns 51-year-old Bogusław F. He is suspected of murdering Stanisław F. in Lubań on 16 August 2020. Investigators:

He struck the victim with a kitchen knife with a 19-centimetre-long blade. As a result of the blow, the victim suffered internal injuries causing massive bleeding and, consequently, death.

On 19 August, the court fully granted the motion and placed Bogusław F. in pre-trial detention. He could face life imprisonment.
