Last year, we reported that 12 old Autosan buses operated by the Municipal Transport Company were running on the streets of Bolesławiec. “I can assure everyone that these buses do not pose a danger on the road. As far as road traffic regulations are concerned, they meet all requirements,” Andrzej Jagiera, president of MZK, told us at the time. At the same time, however, he admitted that the Autosans were worn out and did not meet environmental standards. As he explained then, the company could not afford to replace its fleet.

In October this year, MZK purchased a new bus. The vehicle is adapted to carry people with disabilities. It has 25 seats and 11 standing places. By November, two more buses of this type will take to the streets of our city. The City Municipality supported the investment with PLN 525,000.

“We are working to replace all worn-out public transport vehicles and install monitoring systems on the buses,” Andrzej Jagiera says today. “MZK has currently designated three buses for scrapping. Eight vehicles will still need to be replaced.”

The company will seek to obtain European Union funding for this purpose. Mayor Piotr Roman has declared financial assistance for replacing the fleet if MZK’s application is rejected.
