The incident occurred on Friday, July 17, after 2 p.m., on the bypass, at the intersection of Wróblewskiego and Dolne Młyny streets in Bolesławiec. A truck hit a 40-year-old man. He was taken to hospital, where, unfortunately, he died on Sunday, July 19, as a result of his injuries.

The incident was classified as a pedestrian being hit because the man got off his bicycle, before he began crossing at the pedestrian crossing.

The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the case. The truck driver, whose driving licence was seized on Friday, may face charges for causing a fatal accident.

According to the police’s preliminary findings, the driver of a Volvo truck, a resident of Bolesławiec County, approximately 36 years old, failed to yield to a man who was crossing at the pedestrian crossing while leading a bicycle.

The man was hit and, as a result, the approximately 40-year-old resident of Podlaskie Voivodeship suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital. His condition is serious.

The truck driver was sober. Proceedings aimed at precisely determining the causes of the accident are being conducted under the supervision of a prosecutor.
