Police officers from Nowogrodziec detained a 19-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County suspected of putting counterfeit euro banknotes into circulation. “The perpetrator made payments with counterfeit money in shops in the Nowogrodziec municipality,” reports asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. “In addition, during a search of the residential premises occupied by the 19-year-old, officers secured 34 counterfeit banknotes.”

Interestingly, investigators’ findings indicate that the teenager ordered the counterfeits online and then removed the imprint informing that they were fake.

The detainee confessed to the crime and gave an explanation. He is under police supervision and is prohibited from leaving the country.

The young man could face a sentence of between one and ten years in prison.
