On Wednesday, June 17, Lwówek police officers detained as many as six drivers “under the influence.” “During a patrol of the rural area in Kotliska, a 57-year-old driver of an Opel Astra, a resident of Bolesławiec County, was stopped. The man blew 0.6 per mille,” says senior constable Olga Łukaszewicz from the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski. “In Ustronie, a 58-year-old man riding a bicycle had more than 1.5 per mille in his exhaled breath.”
Then, at around 5:00 p.m., officers detained a 27-year-old man in Lwówek Śląski who was driving an Opel Corsa. The spokeswoman:
The driver’s behavior aroused the officers’ suspicions. An alcohol test was negative. However, a test for intoxicating substances using an Alere device showed that the man was under the influence of amphetamine and methamphetamine. Blood was taken from the driver for testing to determine the exact concentration.
At the same time, another police patrol detained two men riding bicycles in Zbylutów who were under the influence of alcohol. The 41-year-old man had 0.3 per mille in his system. “The second man turned out to be the day’s dubious record-holder. A breath alcohol test showed a result of more than 2.6 per mille,” reports senior constable O. Łukaszewicz.
The officers:
We remind you that riding a vehicle such as a bicycle “while after consuming alcohol or a similarly acting substance” constitutes an offense under Article 87 of the Petty Offenses Code. A person committing this act is liable to arrest or a fine.
The group was also joined by a 20-year-old driver of a Seat Córdoba, who hit a curb in Wleń and then attempted to flee the scene.
When the police arrived, it turned out that the young man had nearly 0.5 per mille in his exhaled breath and, moreover… a court-imposed driving ban.
The 20-year-old will answer for his actions before the court.
