The incident occurred just after midnight, during the night of June 15–16, in Nowogrodziec. The driver of a passenger car lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road. The car crashed into a tree.
Two people were traveling in the car: a 28-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County and a 62-year-old woman. Both were drunk. He had as much as 2.6 per mille of alcohol in his system.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. Preliminary findings by officers indicate that the 28-year-old was driving the passenger car. The 62-year-old woman was injured and taken to a hospital in Lubań.
As a reminder, driving under the influence of alcohol may result in a prison sentence of up to two years.

Alert! At 00:40 on June 16, 2020, we were dispatched to a road accident on Jodłowa Street in Nowogrodziec. Upon arriving at the scene, it was established that a passenger car had crashed into a tree.
They added:
Our tasks included securing the scene, providing qualified first aid, disconnecting the vehicle's battery, removing the spilled operating fluids using absorbent material, and illuminating the area while police officers carried out their activities.
We concluded our operations after 3 a.m.
In addition to the Nowogrodziec firefighters, firefighters from the Rescue and Firefighting Unit in Bolesławiec, as well as police officers and a medical rescue team, took part in the operation.
