– Due to the crisis caused by the worsening coronavirus epidemic, it was necessary to support the activities of the Police and the Border Guard. The armored soldiers carried out patrols and served at posts—both active ones and those closed to traffic, namely border crossings—says Capt. Monika Wywiórka, press officer of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów. – They also supplied documents to be completed by everyone crossing the border and, when necessary, water and food. In addition to security and public-order duties, the tasks performed by soldiers of the “Black Tenth” also included readiness to carry out engineering construction.

And she adds:

Professionalism, complete commitment, dedication, and above all, the desire to serve their homeland—these are the qualities of the soldiers from Świętoszów who carried out tasks along the Polish-German and Polish-Czech borders, as well as those assigned to supervise compliance with quarantine by citizens subject to it and by medical personnel risking their lives and health while collecting swabs at social care facilities.

All the activities carried out by the soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade were aimed at minimizing the risk of the coronavirus spreading within the territory of the Republic of Poland. All tasks performed by the armored soldiers from Świętoszów were received very positively by the public. Citizens, local governments and institutions of all kinds showed great kindness and warmth in appreciation of the hardship of our daily service.

Gratitude, Capt. M. Wywiórka emphasizes, was expressed not only through a few kind words addressed to the uniformed personnel, but sometimes also through a warm meal, coffee or tea. The organizers of the “Polish Seamstresses in Action” and “Bolesławiec Sews for Medics” initiatives also decided to express their appreciation for the soldiers of the “Black Tenth” for their daily dedication and service to the Republic of Poland, which resulted in masks being sewn and handed over to the armored soldiers.

The spokeswoman notes:

The time spent at the borders enabled the exchange and enrichment of experience with other uniformed services, as well as the strengthening of relations with local governments.

Given the service effort of, among others, the soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, other uniformed services and other entities carrying out tasks to limit the spread of the coronavirus, it is important that, despite the reopening of the borders, people continue to comply with certain restrictions still in force under the law.
