Major SG Joanna Konieczniak, spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit, reported a “Netflix-like” story:
On June 12, shortly after midnight, a Renault Clio passenger car drove up for border control at the Olszyna border crossing. During the identity check, the driver presented a driving licence and an identity card belonging to a man born in 1962. The image in the documents differed significantly from the man who presented them. When asked questions about his parents’ names or his date of birth, the driver refused to answer, citing memory lapses.
It turned out that the vehicle the man was driving had been stolen. (The estimated value of the car was PLN 5,000.) But that was not the end of it. Major J. Konieczniak:
During a search of the car, a certificate of release from a prison was found. The document showed that the man was 27 years old and had completed his sentence exactly three days earlier.
The 27-year-old was handed over to police officers from Żary, who are carrying out further proceedings in the case. Let us recall that theft is punishable by between three months and up to five years in prison.
