– Over the weekend, Border Guard officers at the border under the official jurisdiction of the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit checked more than 75,000 people who arrived in Poland, as well as more than 35,000 vehicles. Due to failure to meet the entry requirements, 264 foreign nationals were also turned back. Since 15 March, that is, since the day temporarily reinstated border controls were introduced, officers have already processed 577,647 people and 335,373 means of transport – reports Border Guard Major Joanna Konieczniak, press spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit.
During the weekend, border officers also apprehended two Lithuanian citizens who had illegally crossed the border in Zgorzelec. They also detained a 63-year-old German citizen who tried to offer Border Guard officers €50 in Jędrzychowice in exchange for being allowed to enter Poland without having to undergo quarantine. (The man was questioned as a suspect. He admitted to the alleged offence and voluntarily accepted a fine of PLN 1,500).
Meanwhile, officers from the PSG in Świecko detained a 42-year-old Polish man who arrived by car for border inspection even though he was completely drunk. An alcohol test showed that the man had 2.52 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air. The 42-year-old was handed over to police officers from Słubice.
Border Guard officers from Świecko also detained a Belarusian citizen wanted under an arrest warrant. The 38-year-old was wanted by the District Court in Sulęcin to serve a prison sentence for thefts.
