Złotoryja police officers are conducting explanatory proceedings into causing a road traffic safety hazard and a number of other offences committed by a 30-year-old driver. “The man, who did not have a driving licence, caused a collision involving two passenger cars, and the vehicle he was travelling in was completely unfit to drive. It was neither registered nor insured, was missing the bolts securing the wheels, and in place of the windscreen its owner had fitted a rear window that was too small, using expanding foam, which filled only part of the gaps,” lists Senior Constable Dominika Kwakszys, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja. What is more, the tyres of the vehicle that caused the collision were completely worn out.

The incident occurred in Zagrodno, on provincial road no. 363. The traffic police established that the driver of the Ford, travelling from Bolesławiec, crossed into the opposite lane on a bend and hit a Volkswagen travelling correctly. A 58-year-old woman was behind the wheel of the other vehicle; she was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

As it turned out, the driver responsible for the collision did not have a driving licence at all, and the vehicle he was travelling in was in a deplorable condition.

Senior Constable D. Kwakszys:

Because of the number of offences committed by the man and the safety hazard he caused to another road user, police officers decided to submit a request to the court for punishment. The car in which the 30-year-old had been travelling was towed away from the scene.

The irresponsible driver faces a fine of up to 5,000 zlotys. What is more, the court may impose a driving ban of up to three years.
