The incident occurred after 6:00 p.m. on Żwirki i Wigury Street. The driver of a Volkswagen Transporter was travelling from the direction of the Gerresheimer factory. Before the intersection with Asnyka Street, he hit a scooter.
After the collision, the van pushed the scooter for several dozen metres and then collided with a Volkswagen Passat travelling properly.
The van driver drove onto the grass, got out of the vehicle and tried to flee. However, he was detained by the police.
Two people were injured in the collision: a young man riding the scooter and a woman travelling in the Passat. Both were taken to hospital.
According to witnesses, the driver of the Volkswagen Transporter was under the influence of alcohol.

The perpetrator of the collision turned out to be a 33-year-old man from Bolesławiec. At the time of his arrest, he was completely drunk. He had nearly 2.3 per mille of alcohol in his system.
He now faces up to two years in prison.

On Thursday (10 September), a collision also occurred near the intersection of Leśna and Jeleniogórska streets. At around 5:00 p.m., a motorcycle collided with an Opel passenger car. Fortunately, no one suffered serious injuries. The police are determining the details of the incident.
