– The current situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus epidemic places a huge burden on local governments related to the need to restart and accelerate the economy, as well as preserve jobs for thousands of Poles. The Self-Government of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship is undertaking many initiatives to combat the crisis; however, for the assistance offered to the region’s residents to be complete, we expect support from the Government of the Republic of Poland – says Marshal Cezary Przybylski.

The Lower Silesian Voivodeship borders the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany and has enjoyed partnership relations with these countries for many years. One result of these good relations is that several thousand Lower Silesians work every day in the Czech Republic and Germany. In this way, they contribute not only to strengthening good relations between the partner regions, but also to improving the condition of their businesses in the market.

The restrictions currently in place concerning border crossings and mandatory quarantine mean that many residents of the region are currently unable to work for a living every day. At the same time, some Czech and German plants have regained the ability to conduct their operations, but this is impossible due to the lack of workers from Poland. – Restoring the possibility of crossing the border for work will make it possible to preserve thousands of jobs and save the livelihoods of many Polish families. At the same time, it will help in the process of thawing the economies of Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany – adds Cezary Przybylski.
