Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Paweł Gancarz has made a decision regarding the waste landfill in Rakowice Małe. As reported by Radio Wrocław:
The Marshal of Lower Silesia refused permission to fill in the area of the former excavation site near Lwówek Śląski. It is located above an underground water reservoir that serves residents of as many as four counties: bolesławiecki, zgorzelecki, lwówecki and złotoryjski.
The reason? – “In this proceeding, the Marshal’s Office issued a refusal because, among other things, the entrepreneur’s application raised doubts regarding the proper protection of underground waters at the site of the post-extraction sandstone excavation and the related reclamation issues,” Michał Nowakowski, the marshal’s spokesperson, told the Wrocław outlet.

🎉 LANDFILL BLOCKED 🥳 RAKOWICZKI SAVED! 🛡️💧We are delighted to announce: Paweł Gancarz – Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship – has issued a REFUSAL! The waste landfill in Rakowice Małe has been blocked! 🚫
And added:
This is our shared victory! The Marshal’s Office shared our concerns – the investor’s application did not guarantee the safety of the underground waters that supply as many as four counties: lwówecki, bolesławiecki, zgorzelecki and złotoryjski.
However, this may not be the end of the fight. The landowner may still appeal to the Ministry of Climate and Environment. But for now, WE HAVE WON! 🎉
