Officers from the Kruszyn Police Station, returning home after their shift, detained a 31-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County. The man was caught red-handed—he was attempting to steal a catalytic converter.
“The perpetrator parked his car next to the victim’s vehicle and, using a pipe-cutting tool, attempted to steal an automotive part,” explains asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer for the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters. “The 31-year-old was very surprised by the police officers’ actions and even tried to hide the tool used to cut out the catalytic converter.”
The officers called a patrol to the scene, which took custody of the detainee.
Interestingly, during the proceedings it turned out that this was another crime committed by the 31-year-old in Bolesławiec County. Several weeks earlier, the detainee had stolen a catalytic converter here as well.
The 31-year-old could now face a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison.
