Officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters arrested three perpetrators of burglary as a result of a pursuit and the work of a police dog. “Police officers received information that a lorry had been broken into and more than 50 cartons of chocolate bars had been stolen. The officers immediately went to the scene,” says Asp. Sgt. Monika Kaleta of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. “As they approached, they noticed a vehicle that the perpetrators might have been using. When traffic officers attempted to stop the vehicle for inspection, the driver began to flee.

During the escape, the burglars drove into a forest and damaged their vehicle. They began fleeing on foot. One of them—a 28-year-old man—was arrested by criminal investigators from Bolesławiec.

Officers:

Searching for the remaining individuals was difficult because it was nighttime and visibility was very limited. A police dog handler with a service dog from the County Police Headquarters in Lubań arrived at the scene, and thanks to the dog’s work, officers were led to a forest ditch where the two remaining burglars had hidden.

The officers recovered the stolen property. Some of it was in bushes, while some was in rooms used by one of the arrested men.

Interestingly, all three suspects are residents of Zgorzelec County, aged between 28 and 32. Provincial Police Headquarters:

Police findings indicate that during the night of April 14–15, the suspects acted together to commit one burglary and attempt two further burglaries of lorry trailers. In addition, the 28-year-old man was charged with breaking into a lorry and stealing 150 liters of fuel.

The 32-year-old man will also be held responsible for failing to stop for inspection, as well as breaking into a lorry and stealing tires, some of which were recovered during the investigation.

The arrested men could face between one and as many as ten years in prison.
