While patrolling the streets of the municipality after 1 p.m., police officers from the station in Rudna noticed an Audi. “The woman behind its wheel was creating a hazard on the road with her driving. She entered a bend at excessive speed, and when she reached a straight stretch of road, she was driving in a zigzag,” says asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. “Suspecting that the driver might be intoxicated, the officers decided to check and stopped her for inspection.”
The officers immediately smelled alcohol on the 59-year-old woman. She had 1.4 per mille of alcohol in her system. She could now face up to two years in prison.
The same day, just before midnight, traffic police detained a 28-year-old resident of Polkowice County who had got behind the wheel despite an active ban on driving motor vehicles issued by a court in Lubin.
“Under Polish law, failure to comply with a court-imposed ban can result in a sentence of up to five years in prison,” S. Serafin adds.
