The incident occurred on Saturday, January 11, in the evening, in the town of Zebrzydowa (Nowogrodziec gmina). Two shop employees noticed two intoxicated men who had arrived to do their shopping in a van.

One of the women took the keys from the driver. The women notified the police.

The reporting women's suspicions were confirmed. The driver—a 48-year-old Romanian citizen—had more than 2 per mille of alcohol in his system. He could now face up to two years in prison.

The vehicle's passenger was Ukrainian. He was also intoxicated.
