On January 4, 2020, at the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, the court temporarily detained the perpetrator of a murder that took place on New Year’s Eve in Szklarska Poręba.
A quarrel most likely broke out between Jakub K. and Łukasz F., whom he did not know. During the altercation, K., an 18-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County, severely beat the victim, including striking him in the head with his fists.
The 23-year-old resident of West Pomeranian Voivodeship was taken to hospital.
After Jakub K. was arrested and brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, he was charged with causing the victim serious bodily harm, and a motion was submitted to the court for his temporary detention.
The District Court in Jelenia Góra, granting the prosecutor’s motion, nevertheless stipulated that the perpetrator could be released from detention after paying bail of 40,000 zlotys, which occurred after the property bond was paid.
That was not the end of the matter. After the victim’s death was confirmed as a result of numerous extensive injuries, the 18-year-old was arrested again. This time, he was charged with murder.
The court detained the suspect. Investigators:
Intensive evidentiary proceedings are being conducted in the case; among other things, a surveillance recording from the scene was secured and witnesses were questioned. An autopsy of the victim was also carried out.
The crime of murder is punishable by up to life imprisonment.
