The incident occurred on Thursday, December 18, at around 11:00 p.m., at the intersection of Dworcowa and Brama Głogowska streets in Legnica. Officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters’ Traffic Department noticed the driver of a Renault. The driver’s manner of driving indicated that he might be drunk.
The police decided to stop him for a roadside check. Despite the issued and visible signals to stop, the driver continued driving. The officers set off in pursuit.
At one point, while turning into Szpitalna Street, the fleeing driver stopped the vehicle. The police prevented him from escaping further by blocking his Renault with a police car.
The 18-year-old resident of Legnica was detained. It turned out that he did not have a driving licence.
What is more, noticing the teenager’s unnatural and intense agitation, the officers decided to test him for alcohol and drugs. It emerged that the young man was sober but had been driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.
The suspect was taken into police custody. He could now face a sentence of between three months and five years in prison, as well as a driving ban lasting up to 15 years.
