The incident occurred on Sunday, December 8, at around 2:00 p.m. Police received information that a BMW was travelling along the A4 motorway with blue emergency lights (the so-called “bulaj”), closely resembling those used by the police.

Officers spotted the vehicle in question. They signalled to the driver to stop. He did stop, but only briefly. As the officers approached him, the driver suddenly drove away.

The police began a pursuit which moved from the roads of Bolesławiec County (the area around Chościszowice) onto the A4 motorway (towards Zgorzelec).

The Bolesławiec officers requested support from the police in Zgorzelec. They set up a roadblock. The man eventually stopped his BMW and began fleeing on foot. After a short while, he was apprehended by officers and taken to police custody.

The driver turned out to be a 25-year-old resident of Bolesławiec. Police are currently investigating all the circumstances of the case. The fugitive could face a sentence of between three months and five years in prison.
