Police officers from the Bogatynia police station, as a result of operational work, identified and then detained a 30-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County suspected of stealing bank cards.
The perpetrator turned out to be a former postman who, instead of delivering the parcels sent by the bank containing new bank cards, took them. He then calmly waited for the PIN to be sent, which he also intercepted.
Using the data he obtained, the man then withdrew money or made purchases on online portals. In this way, the 30-year-old appropriated around 100 cards and used them to steal over PLN 10,000.
The intercepted payment cards were found and secured in the 30-year-old’s apartment. The man now faces up to 10 years in prison.
