District police officers from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters detained a 51-year-old man suspected of theft at a hotel and property damage.
As soon as the officers received a report from the hotel staff, they immediately went to the scene. They detained the vandal and thief near the property.
The officers determined that the man had stolen a television from one room. (To avoid arousing suspicion, he threw it out of the window.) In another room, he tore out a bathroom tap, causing approximately PLN 10,000 in damage, as the water pouring out flooded part of the hotel. The television, valued at PLN 1,300, was also damaged.
At the time of his arrest, the vandal was drunk; he had more than 1.5 parts per thousand of alcohol in his breath.
The 51-year-old is a repeat offender. After sobering up, he was charged. He could now face up to 7.5 years in prison.
