The incident occurred on October 12 near Dom Śląski below Śnieżka. A tourist from Germany lost consciousness there.
Other tourists and rescuers from the Karkonosze GOPR Group provided the man with assistance at the scene. The officer noticed a man lying on the trail and people assisting him. Onlookers gathered around and hindered the rescuers through their presence.
Junior aspirant Rafał Gula contacted KPN rangers, with whom he ensured the safety of the people involved in the rescue operation after arriving at the scene and made sure they had room to carry out their work.
The police officer established the unconscious man's identity, his place of residence in Poland and the people with whom he had been hiking. He handed this information, along with the man's personal belongings, to the rescuers.
An air ambulance helicopter was called to the scene and transported the man to hospital. In connection with the helicopter's landing, the police officer and the rangers established a safety zone around the landing site and stopped tourist traffic on the trail.

Numerous behaviors hindering the services' work occurred during the operation, including failure to follow officers' instructions, entering the designated safety zone and restricting the rescuers' freedom of action.
For some tourists, recording the incident on their mobile phones was more important than allowing the emergency services to work effectively.

Jelenia Góra police appeal to everyone to follow the instructions of the services absolutely and without delay whenever rescue operations are being conducted, to stay out of the operational area and not distract rescuers with their unjustified presence and questions. It should be remembered that a rescuer will ask for help if necessary.
We remind you that KPN rangers are the leading service responsible for ensuring safety and order in the National Park, and their instructions must be followed absolutely. Hindering operations is punishable by law.
