An exceptional distinction was awarded to 142 officers from police commands across Poland, including two police officers from Bolesławiec County:

  • asp. szt. Waldemar Ruciński from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec
  • mł. asp. Wojciech Krakowiak from the Police Post in Osiecznica.

As a reminder, in July this year in Nowogrodziec, the police officers were the first to arrive at the scene of a fire in a multi-family building. When they heard a woman shouting that there was a man inside, they immediately entered the already heavily smoke-filled room.

They quickly found the injured man lying on the floor, showing no signs of life. The officers carried him outside, where firefighters provided him with first aid.

It turned out that administering oxygen was enough for the man to regain consciousness.

(More about the incident in the article Fire on Sienkiewicza Street in Nowogrodziec. Man suffered smoke inhalation).

Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters:

Of course, the award is not the most important thing in this story, but the fact that a person was saved. We are proud to have such police officers in our ranks. Without a moment’s hesitation, they rushed to save a human life.

The officers from Bolesławiec add:

Congratulations on your courage and recognition!!!
