On Saturday, 10 August, the duty officer at the Lubin police station received information that an intoxicated man was getting into a car and intended to drive away. The officer immediately sent a traffic patrol to the scene.
As the officers were driving to the indicated street, they noticed a Volkswagen passenger car. The driver was stopped for a road inspection. A strong smell of alcohol was coming from the 47-year-old resident of Lubin. As it turned out, the man was completely drunk; he had almost 3.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.
Moreover, it emerged that the driver did not have a driving licence. He had lost it several years earlier for… driving a car while drunk.
The 47-year-old now faces up to two years in prison.
