Police Headquarters:

The public belief that an accident is most likely to happen after dark, when visibility is worse, or early in the morning because the driver is sleep-deprived, is not supported by statistics.

The greatest number of road accidents during the 2018 summer holidays occurred between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the greatest number of road fatalities during last year's summer holidays resulted from incidents that occurred between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Officers:

It should be noted that the untrue belief about the times when accidents occur usually goes hand in hand with myths that have already been debunked—that the greatest number of accidents most often occur during poor road conditions and on winding roads.
