From July 3 to 5, the U20 Polish Athletics Championships were held in Racibórz. Among 500 athletes, 7 Bolesłavia competitors battled for the highest places in the country and qualification for international events.

Gracjan Kozak became the Polish champion in the discus throw, setting a personal best and breaking his own Lower Silesian record of 57.92 m. The competition was very fierce, as the best result achieved in the second attempt could have been surpassed at any moment by either of the two table leaders.

As the champion himself wrote on his Facebook profile:

The result of 57.92 m is my new personal best. The European U20 Championships are in 2 weeks, so maybe I can improve it even more—what do you think?

He added:

Thank you to my parents for their support from the stands, thank you to my coach Tomek Markowski for the precise preparation, and thank you also to everyone who provides me with all the conditions necessary for my development.

Gracjan also competed in the shot put, finishing fourth with a result of 17.64 m. The other athletes also performed excellently:

  • Martyna Goss finished fifth in the 400 m hurdles with a new personal best of 63.23 s
  • Marcelina Drozdek finished seventh in the 10 km race walk with a time of 58:38.74 min
  • Martyna Olszowy placed 12th in the javelin throw with a result of 33.71 m
  • Martyna Bedełek cleared 1.58 m in the high jump and finished 13th
  • Dawid Bałut jumped 1.84 m in the high jump, which earned him 14th place
  • Aleksandra Wołoszyn finished 15th in the 2,000 m steeplechase with a time of 8:13.10.

Gracjan’s victory, under the guidance of coach Tomasz Markowski, means he has officially qualified to compete at the U20 European Championships in Borås, Sweden. In the points classification, among 150 clubs, MKS Bolesłavia finished 21st, earning 50 points.

Congratulations, and we wish him further success!
