A Bolesławiec resident wrote to the editorial office by email:
Please publicize the situation in the park on Chrobrego Street (where the Światowid monument once stood). The park is located in the city center, yet it looks—and is—like a homeless shelter. Carpets have been spread out, along with cardboard boxes on which homeless people are now sleeping—people who recently set fire to the building by the PKP railway station. Bottles and other rubbish are scattered around. Next to it is an old, disused railway building, and the situation around it is even worse.
He added:
Parties every evening, “romantic” trysts. The place is unfenced and sometimes turns into a children’s playground. I live nearby; the police and municipal guards have been called there numerous times. And when you call the Railway Protection Guard, they never have a patrol nearby. Eventually, a tragedy could occur there.
We contacted the City Hall about the matter. Bolesławiec Deputy Mayor Iwona Mandżuk-Dudek instructed the Municipal Housing Management Office to clean up the area in question and Bolesławiec municipal guards to conduct more frequent patrols in the vicinity.
