The incident occurred on Monday evening in Zebrzydowa. An officer from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec, returning home after his shift, witnessed a road accident. (The driver of a passenger car lost control of the vehicle and went off the road.)

The officer immediately took action: he checked the injured man's vital signs and, seeing his injuries, called an ambulance and notified the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.

Moreover, the police officer helped the medical services remove the driver from the vehicle.

The officers who arrived at the scene quickly determined the cause of the incident. It turned out that the driver who had gone off the road was completely drunk; he had 2.5 parts per thousand of alcohol in his exhaled breath.

The 57-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec municipality now faces up to two years in prison.
