Police officers from the station in Kruszyn identified and arrested a 31-year-old man from Zielona Góra who is suspected of a series of burglaries.
The man from Zielona Góra used a borrowed delivery van to look for unlit and unmonitored places where drivers parked their trucks.
Then, under cover of night, he broke into the vehicles’ fuel tanks and pumped out significant quantities of diesel fuel. (The stolen fuel was transferred to a tank hidden in the cargo area of the van in which he travelled).
Officers from Kruszyn proved that the 31-year-old had committed five offences. (The suspect allegedly committed them between January and March).
But that was not the end of it. Officers from Nowogrodziec charged the 31-year-old with a sixth burglary. (It emerged that the man had also carried out his activities in another part of Bolesławiec County).
The arrested man, who stole more than 1,000 litres of fuel in total and caused losses of over PLN 5,000, admitted his guilt and gave an explanation. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
