A long May weekend lies ahead. For many of us, it is a time of trips and journeys. Therefore, from April 30 to May 5, police officers on the roads of Lower Silesia will conduct intensified preventive and enforcement activities, “May Weekend 2019”.
In the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, traffic patrols will appear in the most dangerous locations. They will be deployed individually or in cascades. In addition to marked police cars, unmarked vehicles equipped with video recorders will also be on the roads.
What are drivers’ “main sins”?
- failure to yield the right of way
- failure to adjust speed to traffic conditions
- failure to yield to a pedestrian
- failure to maintain a safe distance between vehicles
- improper overtaking
- entering on a red light.
What will the officers do during the operation?
- remove from traffic drivers under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants
- check whether drivers comply with speed limits
- check whether people travelling in vehicles comply with the obligation to wear seat belts and transport children in appropriate restraints
- respond to drivers violating regulations concerning vulnerable road users
- conduct vehicle checks regarding transported people and loads
- enforce compliance with traffic regulations by road users, particularly regarding the conduct of vehicle drivers toward pedestrians.
KWP Wrocław:
The most important aim of the activities will be to ensure the safety of everyone travelling on the roads of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
Lower Silesian police officers appeal to everyone travelling on the roads to use common sense and caution during their journeys.
