On 1 April, at around 3:00 a.m., a police patrol conducted a traffic stop on Jeleniogórska Street (national road no. 30) in Gryfów Śląski (Lwówek County), stopping a white delivery van with registration plates from Zgorzelec.

The men travelling in the van locked the doors and tried to drive away. Through the lowered window, the police officers attempted to prevent the suspects from escaping. However, the men drove off, dragging the officers along with them.

After driving 20 metres, the driver veered into a ditch and hit a roadside lamp.

Additional patrols from Lwówek Śląski and from the County Police Headquarters in Lubań were immediately sent to the scene. The responding officers managed to subdue the men. The driver turned out to be a 30-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, while the passenger was a 22-year-old from our county. Moreover, it emerged that the older man was wanted by police officers from Bolesławiec.

(The fire brigade and emergency medical services were also called to provide medical assistance to the police officers and those involved in the incident).

The officers found balaclavas, metal cutters, knives, an axe, an air gun and a gas cylinder in the vehicle. The men were detained and placed in police custody.
