Officers from the Cybercrime Department, together with detectives from the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters and officers from Bolesławiec, have arrested another, the fifth person suspected in a case involving the defrauding of a substantial sum of money from a resident of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

Let us recall. In mid-March, we reported that officers had arrested four people suspected of defrauding a woman of more than half a million zlotys using the “police officer” method.

The entire case began with a single telephone call, during which a caller posing as a police officer misled the victim. He convinced her that the money in her account was at risk.

The frightened woman gave the criminals authorization codes, which allowed them to transfer the funds out of the victim’s account. The victim lost more than half a million zlotys!

The police operation was conducted simultaneously in two voivodeships: Lower Silesian and Masovian.

Fraud is punishable by up to 8 years in prison.
