On the night from Saturday to Sunday, at around 1 a.m., two groups of young people met near the Municipal Park in Legnica—five 16-year-olds on one side, and two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old on the other. An exchange of words was followed by a confrontation and a scuffle. “During it, the 18-year-old was stabbed several times with a sharp instrument in the form of a knife. The group of 16-year-olds left the scene, but thanks to the officers’ swift actions, all five were detained,” says Jagoda Ekiert, spokesperson for the Legnica police.
The young goalkeeper was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery. His life is not in danger. Police have already questioned the five detainees. Each of them gives a different version of events. One of those questioned has already been charged with causing bodily harm. He did not plead guilty and refused to provide an explanation. The case will be decided by a family court.
