On Tuesday, April 21, the 3rd Lower Silesian Athletics Meeting for Primary and Secondary Schools with a military profile was held in Świętoszów. More than 400 young athletes from Osiecznica, Ławszowa, Tomisław, Parowa, Nowa Wieś, Imbramowice, Bogatynia, Świętoszów, Zgorzelec, Parowa, Złotoryja, Brzeźnik, Lubań and Bolesławiec took part in the competition.

Primary and secondary school students competed in the following events: 60-metre race, 60-metre hurdles, 600-metre race, long jump, high jump and backward medicine-ball throw.

Additional attractions at this year's meeting included military events and tests, as well as a demonstration of equipment belonging to the 62nd Special Company “Commando”. The competitors also had an opportunity to visit the barracks in Świętoszów.

In the primary-school medal standings, SP in Imbramowice took first place. The SP No. 5 team from Zgorzelec came second, while the team from Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec came third. Detailed results can be found here.

Those present at the meeting included: Monika Kumosz, director of GOKiS in Osiecznica, Bogdan Fiałkowski, deputy head of the 62nd Special Company “Commando” Association, Paweł Olszański from the Lower Silesian Sports Federation, and Bartosz Gruman, president of MKS Bolesłavia. The star of the event was Piotr Rysiukiewicz, an Olympic athlete from Atlanta, multiple national record holder and winner of Polish championship titles.

The main sponsor of the competition was the Osiecznica Municipality. The event was held under the patronage of the Lower Silesian Athletics Association, MKS Bolesłavia, Kliczków Castle, the Ministry of National Defence and the 62 KS “Commando” Association.
