The incident took place during the night of January 19–20. A reader informed us that 19 minutes after midnight he reported to the police that a truck driver was driving erratically along the motorway near Godzieszów and was not responding to signals to stop.

The reporting party:

He drove all over the motorway all the way to Bolesławiec. There were three phone calls to 997, as well as directly to the duty officer.

According to the reader, at 00:55 the suspected driver pulled into a petrol station in Kraśnik Dolny.

And he notes:

The police still had not arrived. Another call to the police duty officer—he did not answer. At 1:30, the truck driver continued toward Wrocław. He could not be stopped, and continuing to follow the driver was pointless.

He also adds: – I wonder what would have happened if this driver had caused a fatal accident?

The man informed us that the police did not appear at the scene until after 1:30.

We asked the Bolesławiec police why none of the police patrols had stopped the truck driver for more than an hour. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, spokesperson for the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec:

In response to your inquiry, I inform you that explanatory activities are being carried out in this matter to establish the circumstances of the report and the intervention.
