As part of international cooperation, the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec was informed about the theft of a Kia vehicle bearing Polish registration plates. The crime took place in Germany.
The information was immediately passed on to patrol units. Just a few minutes later, officers from the patrol and intervention unit spotted the vehicle in one of Zgorzelec’s streets. (The officers secured the car, worth PLN 60,000, until the arrival of a police officer from the criminal investigation department and a forensic technician.)
After the procedural activities had been completed, the vehicle was handed over to its owner.
Activities are underway both to clarify all the circumstances of the incident and to apprehend the perpetrator of the theft. The offender could face up to five years in prison.
