To protect the safety of road users, police throughout the country are conducting nationwide inspection and prevention operations called “Cascading speed measurement”. Their aim is to enforce compliance with speed limits among drivers. Cascading speed measurement means that checks are carried out on the same road, at the same time, but in different locations. Two, three or more police cars, positioned one after another along a specific, often short, section of road, may take part in such an operation.

As a vehicle’s speed increases, its braking distance becomes longer, it becomes more difficult to control the vehicle, and reaction to situations that may occur on the road is delayed.

Excessive speed kills not only vehicle drivers and their passengers; unfortunately, it also kills other road users, including pedestrians.

The officers:

The intensified operations conducted by traffic police officers are, among other things, preventive in nature. However, drivers who fail to comply with speed limits, especially those who exceed the speed limit considerably, must expect consequences.
